Midnight Moonlight

A completely different take on using the ceramic extrusions. I had a little stash of Venetian mosaic gold in several shades, and came upon the idea of an impressionistic cityscape in the moonlight. For the night sky I cut up a sheet of Bullseye glass, added some black smalti, including some larger "B" cuts, and a touch of Galena to give a little silvery sparkle. The piece is constructed on a hand-formed concrete/mesh panel.

This piece was juried into "Tesserae: The Art of Mosaics" at 2nd City Council Gallery in Long Beach, CA. June 22 – August 5, 2009.

This piece measures
24" x 14".
